FAITH.
What we believe gets worked out in us, in our everyday lives. Which is why doing life with us is probably the easiest way to find out what we believe. But just to get you started... We believe in:
VISION. At Queen's Inter-Varsity, we believe that life should be a party. There should be tables overflowing with food--more than you could ever hope to eat. And good beats playing in the background. There should be tons of people--good friends who know that when they come, they belong. And it should go on and on and on. You know. A really good party. But we also believe that our university and world don't really operate like that. Instead of abundance, the food is running out. People aren't sure that there's enough so they're clawing over one another to make sure there'll at least be enough for them. And when you come, can you really be sure that you belong? Or is it all just some elaborate game to see who'll come out on top? And in our post-modern academic context, is there more to university than just getting an education to secure a job down the road? Well, we think there is. A lot more. We believe that Jesus is about reconciliation, bringing us back to being people of joy and learning, abundance and friendship. Where people of different genders, ethnicities, backgrounds and preferences can be true friends and neighbours. At Queen's Inter-Varsity, THIS is our vision for ourselves and our campus--partnering with Jesus as he seeks to reconcile us and the world to himself and one another. That's why we do things like small groups and scripture studies and potlucks and retreats and conferences. We want to get together around Jesus and learn from him. And then we want to go out and transform our campus, communities and world. If you're a follower of Jesus, then you know the value of having people grow and develop with you as you pursue God. If you grew up in the church but are kinda bored with the whole thing, chances are you haven't experienced a community that has done life with you in a real way. And if you're not sure what you think, then great. Wherever you're coming from, we'd love to have you join us and get to know you better. |
